Visit by the Orne Prefect to the Matfer factory: a journey to the heart of industry

On Wednesday 20 November, Sébastien Jallet, Prefect of the Orne region, accompanied by the Sub-Prefect of Mortagne-au-Perche and local councillors, accepted an invitation from Luc Van Ryssel, Deputy Managing Director of the Matfer factory, to visit the company, which has been based in Longny-au-Perche since 1967.

Raising awareness of industrial professions

This official visit provided an opportunity to talk to the 4th-ᵉ year pupils at Longny-au-Perche middle school about industrial careers and the feminisation of the sector. In a context where gender equality and the attractiveness of industrial careers are major issues, this meeting offered the middle school students a concrete overview of the opportunities offered by the sector.

Un outil pratique et confortable

An innovation supported by France Relance

The visitors also discovered FAB 1, an innovation incubator funded by the France Relance programme. Since 2020, this initiative has enabled Matfer Bourgeat to strengthen its position in the high-end utensil customisation markets, a rapidly expanding segment. FAB 1 illustrates the company’s ability to innovate and adapt to new market demands.

An industry open to the public

As part of Industry Week, Matfer Bourgeat opened its doors to almost 400 visitors, demonstrating its desire to share its expertise and promote local industry. This initiative underlines the importance of transmission and dialogue between professionals and the general public.
